- Businesses with 50 or fewer employees, non-profits and public-sector employers, hiring youth aged 15 to 30 for a full-time summer job (30 hours a week or more).
- When
- Apply in the employer intake expected in November 2026 for summer 2027 jobs. Last year’s ran November 4 to December 11.
- Stacking
- It cannot be combined with the Student Work Placement Program for the same placement. Provincial programmes can sit on top, up to 100% of your costs.
- Recipients
- 70,712 employers appear as Canada Summer Jobs recipients in federal disclosure records, 2006 to 2026; the median agreement is $6,319.

No. It pays on the provincial or territorial minimum wage: up to 50% for a private business, up to 100% for a non-profit. Paying more is allowed, but the subsidy does not grow with it.
