Program Description
Funds innovative interactive digital media projects including video games, XR, and digital storytelling. Up to $1.5M per project (75% of eligible costs). New lower budget stream for projects under $750K. Two rounds annually. Mandatory pre-application consultation for new CMF IDM applicants.

Applications scored on a 100-point grid: Innovation, creativity, and advancement (60 points — dominant criterion), Strategic positioning and marketing plan (10 points), Team experience and capacity (13 points), Financial viability and budget (9 points), Community engagement and sustainability (4 points), Gender parity with 40%+ women in key positions (2 points), Diversity with 40%+ diverse community members in key positions (2 points). Innovation score is decisive — projects must demonstrate technological or distribution innovation, not just content novelty.

- Research and content preparation costs
- Salaries, wages, social benefits, and contracts for project team (management, development, coding, design, QA)
- Technology infrastructure (hardware and software) directly used for the project
- Travel and accommodation for project-related activities
- Project audit fees
- Localization (translation, cultural adaptation) of the project
- Marketing, promotion, and commercialization activities (25-50% of production budget categories B+C)
- Environmental sustainability measures related to the project

- Credit margins or loans used as financing sources
- Sweat equity and volunteer work
- Deferred salaries from non-shareholders
- Future revenues pledged against the project
- General corporate overhead not directly tied to the project
- Costs incurred before the CMF funding agreement is executed

Two rounds annually. 2025-26: Round 1 opened May 6, closed May 15; Round 2 opened August 26, closed September 11. 2026-27 dates TBD — guidelines typically published by April. New applicants must book pre-consultation well before closing dates.
