Program Description
Laval Économique grant for non-profit collective enterprises — cooperatives and NPOs — creating a social-economy business or launching a new collective project. Pays a non-repayable contribution of up to 60% of eligible expenses: up to $50,000 for the creation of a business (commerce and service businesses, or production of innovative and structuring goods or services), up to $50,000 for a new collective project within an existing social-economy enterprise, and up to $10,000 for management and governance consulting.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a non-profit business (cooperative or organization) registered in the Quebec Enterprise Register and have a Quebec Enterprise Number (NEQ).
- Carry out its main activities in Laval or intend to locate in Laval.
- Have a board of directors governed by rules of good governance.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide seed money or obtain complementary financing from other partners, for a maximum contribution from the Collective Entrepreneurship Fund of 60% of eligible expenses for start-ups and for operating companies.
- Combined financial assistance from the provincial and federal governments and the city of Laval may cover up to 100% of eligible expenses.
- Include capital expenditures, marketing or commercialization or other expenses relevant to the success of the project.
- Have or anticipate significant commercial activities (sales of goods or services and revenues from service agreements) representing at least 40% of total revenues for operating businesses, and aim to attain 40% of total revenues and economic viability by the end of the third year of operation for start-up businesses.
- Demonstrate that financial assistance from the Collective Entrepreneurship Fund completes or improves the financial plan of the business or project in order to ensure its feasibility.
- Demonstrate that the company or project has good prospects for sustainable development, viability and longevity.
- The applicable ceiling depends on the situation: $50,000 for the creation of a business (commerce and service businesses, or production of innovative and structuring goods or services), $50,000 for a new collective project within an existing social-economy enterprise, and $10,000 for management and governance consulting.
