Program Description
NRCan's Energy Innovation Program supports front-end engineering design (FEED) studies for CCUS projects with contributions of $3 million to $7 million, covering up to 50% of eligible costs (75% for Indigenous applicants). Applications are accepted on a continuous intake basis until funding is allocated.
Eligibility Requirements
- For-profit organization, utility, or Indigenous organization validly incorporated or registered in Canada
- Applicant must own or be responsible for the capital investment for the FEED-study assets
- Projects must be past TRL 8 and ready for FEL 3/FEED activities
- Contribution requests must be between $3,000,000 and $7,000,000
- Up to 50% of eligible total project costs (or 75% for Indigenous applicants)
- Project duration up to a maximum of five years

What happens if NRCan asks me for more information?
The program will contact you with an information request, and it will treat the date the additional information is received as the new date of reception of your application.
What stage does my CCUS project need to be at?
The call is for FEED projects advancing past late stage demonstration to first commercial installations, meaning projects should be past Technology Readiness Level 8 and working towards a final investment decision for deployment at TRL 9.
