Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions founders most often ask about ESSOR Component 1C — Digital Transformatio...

Free
Do I need to complete Component 1B before applying to 1C?
Yes — a Component 1B digital diagnostic must be completed first. The 1B report identifies which technologies to implement, and 1C funds the implementation. Budget 6+ months for both components combined.
Are equipment purchases covered by Component 1C?
No — Component 1C funds consulting and professional implementation fees only. For hardware, pair with ESSOR Component 2 (capital investment) or Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP).
What's the realistic 1C payout?
$20,000–$50,000 (50% of eligible costs). The $50,000 maximum requires $100,000+ in eligible implementation costs. Combined with Component 1B ($20K max), total ESSOR digital-funding can reach $50,000 non-repayable.
Can sole proprietors apply for ESSOR 1C?
No — must be a for-profit Quebec-registered business or social economy enterprise with $2.5M+ annual revenue and ≤250 employees. Sole proprietors must incorporate to qualify, and ALL documentation must be submitted in French through the clicSÉQUR Entreprises portal.
