What this program funds and who can apply
Program Description
A temporary lending-relief programme from Farm Credit Canada for the Canadian agriculture and food industry during the tariff disruption. Eligible viable businesses — existing FCC customers and non-customers alike — can access an additional credit line of up to $500,000 and a new term loan; existing customers can also defer principal payments for up to 12 months on current FCC loans. FCC states plainly that this is repayable financing, not a grant and not an interest-free loan. Access is by conversation with an FCC Relationship Manager rather than an online form, and lending due diligence is carried out on every application.
Eligibility Requirements
- Operating in the Canadian agriculture and food industry — FCC names agribusinesses, farm operations and food processors
- Open to both existing FCC customers and non-customers who meet FCC's necessary lending criteria
- The business must have been financially viable prior to the impact of the tariff
- Lending due diligence is carried out on all applications
- Principal-payment deferral of up to 12 months is available only to existing FCC customers with existing FCC loans
- This is repayable financing — FCC does not provide funds in the form of grants or interest-free loans under this programme
