Program Description

Foresight Canada's Earth Tech programs — Earth Tech: 2050 (decarbonization) and Earth Tech: Adapt (climate adaptation) — are nine-month acceleration programs for Canadian cleantech startups at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 or higher. The programs provide no direct cash grants; instead, participants receive customized mentorship, investor matchmaking, market access support, pilot opportunities, and carbon/lifecycle analysis services at no cost. The master tracker attributed a '$25K+ grant facilitated' figure but the live program pages do not confirm any direct cash grant — the value is delivered through in-kind support and investor pipeline access. Companies in the Foresight portfolio have collectively raised $2.45B in venture capital; the program is a pipeline builder, not a grant program.

  • Commitment to a 9-month acceleration program

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions founders most often ask about Foresight Earth Tech (2050 + Adapt) — Clim...

Free
Is there any cash grant provided?
No direct cash grant — the program offers in-kind benefits: investor network access, mentorship, pilot opportunities, and carbon analysis services. Portfolio companies have collectively raised $2.45B in VC through Foresight programs.
What's the minimum TRL required?
TRL 6 or higher — the product must be validated and deployable, not in early R&D stage. Applications with TRL 5 or below are automatically declined.
Can I apply for both 2050 and Adapt streams?
Yes, but applications must clearly align with one stream's focus: 2050 for decarbonization, Adapt for climate adaptation. Both can be explored simultaneously if the tech fits both categories.
How long does the application take?
A single Airtable form — no additional documents are required beyond the standard business details. What decides the outcome is the TRL evidence: applications at TRL 5 or below are automatically declined, so the work is in demonstrating a validated, deployable product.
What programs stack with this accelerator?
OERD grants, SDTC funding, and SR&ED credits are compatible. Foresight advisors can help apply to SDTC while participating in the program.
