Foresight Earth Tech (2050 + Adapt) — Climate Accelerator
Eligibility & Details
What this program funds and who can apply
Program Description
Foresight Canada's Earth Tech programs — Earth Tech: 2050 (decarbonization) and Earth Tech: Adapt (climate adaptation) — are nine-month acceleration programs for Canadian cleantech startups at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 or higher. The programs provide no direct cash grants; instead, participants receive customized mentorship, investor matchmaking, market access support, pilot opportunities, and carbon/lifecycle analysis services at no cost. The master tracker attributed a '$25K+ grant facilitated' figure but the live program pages do not confirm any direct cash grant — the value is delivered through in-kind support and investor pipeline access. Companies in the Foresight portfolio have collectively raised $2.45B in venture capital; the program is a pipeline builder, not a grant program.
Eligibility Requirements
- Canadian-incorporated business (required)
- Technology at TRL 6 or higher (clear pathway to scaling — product must be validated and deployable)
- Earth Tech: 2050 — targeting decarbonization solutions (carbon removal, industrial decarbonization, renewable energy, sustainable materials, AI/data for emissions reduction)
- Earth Tech: Adapt — targeting climate adaptation technologies (water and agriculture, forestry and natural resources, urban infrastructure, energy and transportation)
- Commitment to a 9-month acceleration program

How to Win
Insider tips, common pitfalls, and what successful applicants look like
Insider TipThis is an in-kind program, not a cash grant — if your primary need is non-repayable funding, prioritize other programs first. However, for TRL 6+ cleantech companies seeking investor introductions, market access, and expert mentorship, Foresight Earth Tech is one of Canada's most credible cleantech accelerators. The investor matchmaking component is the highest-value benefit for companies at the Series A readiness stage. Apply for the Adapt stream if your technology addresses resilience; apply for 2050 if focused on decarbonization — both can be explored simultaneously.
Success Profile
A Canadian startup with a validated water-treatment adaptation technology (TRL 7) that needs investor introductions and market access in BC and Ontario. Or a decarbonization software company at TRL 6 seeking carbon lifecycle analysis credentials and cleantech VC introductions to support a Series A raise.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications are evaluated on technology readiness (TRL 6+), sector fit (decarbonization for 2050 or climate adaptation for Adapt), scaling potential, Canadian incorporation, and the team's capacity to engage with and benefit from the 9-month program. Companies further along in commercialization (TRL 7–9) with defined market entry plans are prioritized.
