What this program funds and who can apply
Program Description
Canada's only national loan + mentorship program for entrepreneurs aged 18-39 starting their first businesses. Provides up to $75,000 in co-lending (Futurpreneur up to $25,000 + BDC up to $50,000), mandatory 2-year hand-matched mentorship, and access to Futurpreneur's national entrepreneurship community. Federally funded at $60M over 2024-2029. Interest: CIBC prime + 3% (capped at 9%). No collateral required.
Eligibility Requirements
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Aged 18-39 at time of application
- Business has been operating full-time for 24 months or less
- Applicant has relevant training or experience related to the business concept
- Majority ownership of the business (>50%)
- Personal taxes are filed and current
- No bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings within the past 5 years
- Revenue-generating products or services are ready for market, not still in the research and development phase
- The business will create full-time sustainable employment for the applicant
- Applicant is not named as party to a lawsuit
- Loan proceeds will not be used to refinance existing debt
- The BDC portion is assessed on BDC's own criteria, which may differ from Futurpreneur's
