Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions founders most often ask about INNOV-R PME — Quebec GHG-Reduction Innovat...

Free
Can sole proprietors apply?
No — must be a Quebec-incorporated SME with internal R&D or production. Sole proprietors, partnerships, or non-incorporated entities are ineligible.
What's the realistic award size?
Historical awards range $250K–$450K, reflecting a 50% cap on total eligible expenses of $500K–$900K. Projects must hit $100K+ CO2 reduction to qualify.
How long until I get paid?
Reimbursement model: funds released after project completion and verification. Typically 3–6 months post-submission of final reports and receipts.
Why do most applications fail?
Most fail on the 100,000-tonne CO2-eq threshold: weak GHG model, no Quebec collaborator, or no 50% private matching.
Can I stack with SR&ED?
Yes — R&D costs are claimable under SR&ED, but INNOV-R PME funding reduces the SR&ED base dollar-for-dollar.
