Program Description
Provides non-repayable grants to support small and medium-sized businesses in Manitoba pursuing innovation and technology commercialization.
Eligibility Requirements
- For-profit, taxable Canadian-controlled private corporation (CCPC) with a permanent establishment in Manitoba that pays at least 50% of total salaries and wages to Manitoba resident employees
- Must be a small or medium-sized business (SME) with fewer than 100 full-time-equivalent employees (consolidated with affiliates) or annual revenue of $15 million or less
- Project must focus on technology commercialization or innovation (not operational expenses)
- Funding covers up to 50% of eligible project costs, maximum $100,000 grant
- Must demonstrate a viable plan for commercializing an innovative technology product or process
- Must be able to contribute the remaining 50% of project costs from non-government sources

Can sole proprietors apply?
No. Applicants must be for-profit, taxable Canadian-controlled private corporations with a permanent establishment in Manitoba that pay at least 50% of salaries and wages to Manitoba residents. Sole proprietors, partnerships and not-for-profit organizations are not eligible.
What's the realistic grant amount?
Most recipients get $50,000-$100,000. To qualify for $100K, total project cost must be $200K+ (50% match). Smaller projects receive 50% of total cost (e.g., $60K project = $30K grant).
When are applications reviewed?
Each intake has one published closing date. The current intake closes September 30, 2026, and no applications are accepted after the closing date. Past intakes closed December 15, 2024 and June 30, 2025.
Why do applications get rejected?
Common reasons: weak commercialization plan (no go-to-market strategy), non-government co-funding not confirmed, or project is early-stage R&D instead of commercialization-ready scale-up.
Can I stack with SR&ED?
Yes. SR&ED is explicitly excluded from the 50% government funding cap — stack freely with IGP without affecting the 50% non-government match requirement.
