Program Description
An annual provincial wage subsidy that helps private sector businesses and not-for-profit organizations create summer jobs for students. Private sector employers can receive a maximum subsidy of $4,032 per full-time equivalent approval; not-for-profits can receive up to $7,800 per full-time equivalent, which includes wages and mandatory employment related costs. Employers choose how many students to hire and how many hours and weeks each works, as long as labour standards are maintained. Students must be entering or returning to post-secondary training in the coming academic year, or be enrolled in high school Level I, II or III, or moving from Grade 9 to Level I. The 2026 intake closed February 19, 2026, and all 2026 student employment had to end on or before September 7, 2026. The department runs the program through the Labour Market Programs Support System (LaMPSS).
