Program Description

Saskatchewan rebates 50% of the cost of approved biosecurity and animal welfare equipment and expenses for livestock and bee producers: beef cattle, bison, cervids, dairy, poultry, swine, sheep and goats, honey bees and leafcutter bees. The maximum is $15,000 per operation over the Sustainable CAP term (April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2028), with lower maximums for smaller cervid, sheep, goat and honey bee operations and for beef operations that have completed training but not certification. Each species has its own training or certification requirement and its own list of eligible items.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Saskatchewan producers of beef cattle, bison, cervids, dairy, poultry, swine, sheep or goats, honey bees or leafcutter bees (individual, partnership, co-operative or corporation); individual producers must be at least 18
  • Minimum gross farm income in Saskatchewan in the year of application or the year before: $50,000 for beef, bison, dairy, poultry, swine and leafcutter bee producers; $15,000 for cervid, sheep, goat and honey bee producers
  • First Nation Bands in Saskatchewan raising the species, and beef cattle grazing associations operating on Saskatchewan Crown land
  • A Saskatchewan Premises Identification (PID) number
  • Livestock species: a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship with a veterinarian or clinic licensed with the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association
