techNL, Newfoundland and Labrador's tech industry association, delivers the Graduate Transition Initiative — a government-funded wage and training subsidy of up to $41,250 that helps NL tech and tech-enabled companies hire and onboard a recent local graduate into a new, permanent role. techNL also runs the AI Skills Launchpad (a heavily subsidized upskilling program for tech workers and career-changers, run in periodic cohorts) and the High School Tech Immersion Internship (a cost-shared summer placement program for NL high school students), both administered on a seasonal application-window basis rather than continuous intake.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Employer incorporated provincially or federally and registered to operate in Newfoundland and Labrador, with a physical office and active NL operations
  • Employer has fewer than 250 employees at time of application
  • Employer is a tech or tech-enabled company
  • Employer is a techNL member in good standing
  • The funded position is a net-new, permanent, full-time role — cannot backfill an existing position
  • Employer can provide onboarding, mentorship, and professional development, and designates a supervisor/mentor
  • Graduate is legally entitled to work full-time in NL and currently resides in NL
  • Graduate completed a minimum one-year post-secondary program at a recognized NL institution or workforce/skills training provider within the past two years
  • Graduate is not currently a full-time student and not currently employed full-time in the NL tech sector
  • Graduate is not a co-op student or intern
