Program Description
DIGITAL is a not-for-profit Global Innovation Cluster that co-invests in collaborative digital-technology projects rather than issuing grants to single companies. It has supported 95 projects with a total investment value of $390M since 2018. DIGITAL runs periodic calls for proposals - Technology Leadership, Mining and Energy, Genomics, CareerTech, AI Skills and Adoption, Horizon AI, Quantum, Housing and Talent - and as of this check every published call is marked closed. Co-investment goes only to Eligible Members and covers up to 35% of total eligible project costs, with consortium partners funding the rest.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must become a DIGITAL (Digital Technology Supercluster) member before applying
- Canadian company with registered Canadian business presence
- Consortium of at least 2 industry Members required, including at least 1 SME
- Industry partners must collectively cover 57% or more of total eligible project costs
- Total project cost must meet stream minimums (typically $3 million or more)
- Technology must address health, natural resources, AI, quantum, or housing sectors
- Company has cash flow capacity to self-fund 3-6 months of project costs before reimbursement
