Eligibility Requirements
- Actively building in or expanding to Quebec (programs require in-person participation)
- Novel concept with clear potential for real-world application
- Innovative use of technology or research where appropriate
- Team execution capability, either established or actively being built
- Coachability and openness to feedback
- Clear connection to a District 3 thematic sector (biotech, healthcare, high tech, social innovation)
- Professional working proficiency in English (cohort programs are delivered primarily in English)
- Ability to commit the time required to fully participate
- Relevant experience that positions you to tackle this challenge
- No Concordia affiliation is required — District 3 states its programs and services are open to all Quebec residents
- District 3 specialises in health, bio, high tech and social innovation, and applications are expected to show a clear connection to one of those thematic sectors; it also states it supports a wide range of business solutions, including ventures spanning multiple fields — confirm fit with District 3 before applying if you sit outside the four themes.
- Explore (Systems Mapping) stage: open to any individual or team ready to start solving complex social or environmental challenges; 6 weeks, weekly 2.5-hour workshops plus office hours, up to 10 hours per week
- Build (Validation) stage: early-stage startups with proof of concept and the technical capacity to build the solution — high-tech startups do not require proof of concept; 10 to 12 weeks at about 25 hours per week per co-founder, with weekly in-person attendance for a 3-hour session
- Grow (Launch & Grow) stage: startups that have demonstrated customer or stakeholder traction and are accelerating toward a seed round or product-market fit; requires at least two co-founders with full-time commitment from at least one, and ideas leveraging emerging technologies or innovative business models
- Scale (MentorConnect) stage: founders in the greater Montreal area moving from early-stage startup mode to an established business; monthly 90-minute sessions with three mentors, no fixed end date
