Read the cost-sharing ratio before anything else — envisAGE reimburses an SME only 15% to 25% of its eligible expenses, and on top of that the SME pays a 5% management fee on total eligible project costs. This is a co-investment, not a grant, and you need the balance-sheet capacity to carry a 12-18 month project and claim quarterly in arrears. Two gates knock people out early: you must already own the IP behind the technology, and the technology must already have its regulatory approvals. If you have a technology but no Community Lab partner, submit an Expression of Interest as a solo SME — envisAGE runs a matchmaking stage specifically to pair you with one. The 3rd Call has closed; ask [email protected] when the next one opens.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications run through three stages: a Letter of Intent or Expression of Interest, then collaborator matchmaking and a full project proposal, then review and selection. Letters of Intent are assessed on thematic priority fit — whether the proposal addresses an identified AgeTech challenge and market need within envisAGE's priority themes — and on technology and innovation, meaning the innovative nature of the proposal and how the technology would actually be implemented. Proposals are rejected as ineligible if any section of the form is incomplete, if filing deadlines are missed, or if any eligibility criterion is unmet. A Project Selection Committee makes the final call, and conflicts of interest must be declared before submission.

Eligible Expenses 6

• Direct labour — the portion of gross wages or salaries for personnel working directly on the project
• Subcontractors and consultants, at fair market value and in line with industry norms
• Direct materials consumed in performing the collaborative project
• Equipment purchased for the project, including costs to alter, modernize, commission and ship it
• Other direct costs specifically identified and measured as incurred for project activities
• Travel and outreach costs directly related to the collaborative project

• Use of existing equipment (treated as an in-kind cost and not reimbursable; only direct operating costs may be eligible)
• Costs incurred outside the project period or not included in the approved budget
• Costs that cannot be identified, verified and recorded in the recipient's accounts
• Refundable sales taxes
• Costs where the Ultimate Recipient is also acting as a subcontractor on the same project
• Overhead applied to bona fide subcontractors and consultants

Intake Periods

Periodic Calls for Innovations rather than continuous intake. The 3rd Call ran with Letters of Intent due December 2, 2025 and complete proposals due March 11, 2026, with decisions in June 2026 and the cohort announced July 2026. Deadline Notes

envisAGE runs periodic Calls for Innovations rather than a continuous intake. In the 3rd Call, Letters of Intent were due December 2, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET, complete collaborative project proposals were due March 11, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and lead applicants were notified in June 2026. MEDTEQ+ and AGE-WELL announced that cohort of 17 collaborative projects on July 6, 2026. No 4th Call has been announced. Note that the Call for Innovations page still carries a 'CALL FOR INNOVATIONS SUBMISSION STILL OPEN!' banner, which contradicts the guide's own dates and the announced cohort — contact [email protected] before assuming an intake is open.

Ineligible Organizations

• Individuals
• Agencies, boards or commissions of the federal or provincial governments
• Non-legal entities
• Organizations whose purpose is related to political activity (lobbying), as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency
• Organizations or enterprises currently in default of any other federal or provincial government grant
• Companies that are bankrupt, having their affairs administered by the courts, that have entered into an arrangement with creditors, or that have suspended business activities
• SMEs with more than 499 full-time equivalent employees
• Companies whose head office or majority of jobs and activities are outside Canada

Clawback Risk

Low Risk

No clawback provisions are published. Because envisAGE reimburses only approved expenses already incurred and paid, the exposure is non-reimbursement rather than repayment: costs outside the approved budget, or budget shifts above 10% made without a formal modification request, simply are not paid.
