Program Description
Manitoba's provincial farm lender offers Direct Loans of up to $6.25 million for land, buildings, equipment, livestock, quota and operating expenses, short-term Stocker and Feeder Plus livestock loans, and guarantees on loans from your own bank or credit union. On September 14, 2026 MASC raised its guaranteed share to 33.33% from 25%, lifted Operating Credit Guarantee lines to $3 million, and opened Diversification Loan Guarantees to grain and oilseed operations. Farmers aged 18 to 39 get extra terms and a Young Farmer Rebate.
Eligibility Requirements
- Direct Loans: individuals, joint farm units, partnerships, corporations or cooperatives
- Direct Loans: applicants must be Manitoba residents at least 18 years of age and Canadian citizens or have lawful permanent residence status
- Direct Loans: applicants must personally operate the farm to which the loan applies
- The farm must be considered potentially viable and meet security requirements
- Livestock Loans: cattle and lamb producers buying feeder cattle or lambs, retaining their own feeders, or buying heifers to breed
- Loan guarantees: apply to the participating lender of your choice; if the lender decides a guarantee would help, the lender applies to MASC
- Diversification Loan Guarantee: producers and agricultural enterprises diversifying or adding value to agricultural commodities, now including grain and oilseed operations and investment in primary agricultural infrastructure in Manitoba; projects must comply with environmental and land use control laws
- Bridging Generations Initiative and Young Farmer Rebate: farmers aged 18 to 39 (partnerships, corporations and cooperatives qualify if at least one partner or shareholder would qualify individually)

Direct Loans: up to $6.25 million at up to 80 per cent financing (90 per cent financing, or five years of interest-only payments, for eligible farmers aged 18 to 39), most with terms up to 25 years. Stocker Loans: up to 100 per cent financing on up to $1.6 million. Feeder Plus Loans (revolving): up to 90 per cent financing on up to $6.25 million. Loan guarantees on loans from participating lenders (as enhanced September 14, 2026): Operating Credit Guarantee lines up to $3 million for all business types and Diversification Loan Guarantees on loans of up to $15 million, with MASC guaranteeing 33.33 per cent (up from 25 per cent). Young Farmer Rebate: up to 2 per cent a year on the first $425,000 of principal for the loan's first five years, lifetime maximum $42,500.
