Program Description
Reimburses commercial poultry producers in the BC Lower Mainland for 80% of eligible costs to install air-filtration, UV-C or positive-pressure ventilation systems that reduce HPAI risk.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a commercial poultry producer in the eligible BC Lower Mainland region
- Must have an active 9-digit CRA business number
- Must constitute a legal entity
- Must be registered with the BC Premises Identification Program
- Must hold table egg, hatching egg, chicken or turkey quota under Canada’s supply management system, or raise more than 300 ducks or geese commercially per calendar year
- Eligible tools/technologies must filter or treat incoming or recirculated air in poultry housing (mechanical air filtration, UV-C systems, positive pressure ventilation)
- Installation must occur between January 1 and December 31, 2026, and operation must continue until March 31, 2027 or until BC poultry industry biosecurity 'Red' status is revoked in 2027, whichever comes first

How much can I get?
Stream 1 pays 80% cost-share up to $30,000 per project.
Can I apply for more than one barn or site?
Yes. The previous per farm and per Premises ID cap has been lifted. Each Premises ID site can apply for upgrades to barns that have not previously received NTT funding, regardless of whether they operate under a single CRA business number, and a separate application is required for each Premises ID.
I applied in the June 2026 intake. Do I need to apply again?
If your application is for the same premises there is no need to apply again. If you want to apply for an additional premises, submit an application for that site in the August intake.
Are costs I have already paid eligible?
Yes, for costs incurred from January 1, 2026 onwards. Anything spent before IAF makes a funding decision is entirely at your risk if funding is not awarded.
What technologies qualify?
Mechanical air filtration with MERV 16 or above or HEPA filters, UV-C systems that disinfect incoming or recirculated air, and positive pressure ventilation upgrades from sidewall inlets. Positive pressure should be combined with one other approved activity. Antimicrobial filters were removed by the funder, and in-barn fogging is under further study.
What am I agreeing to if I take the funding?
Operating the equipment continuously until March 31, 2027 or until biosecurity Red status is revoked in 2027, whichever comes first, and providing data to the Ministry through 2 to 3 short online surveys, plus taking part in Stream 2 research as reasonably requested.
