Program Description
The Ocean Startup Challenge awards up to $25,000 to each of up to 15 early-stage Canadian ocean startups, delivered through a cohort program running from August 31, 2026, to February 26, 2027. It targets pre-revenue companies at TRL 6 or lower, with limited prior investment and Canadian incorporation.
Eligibility Requirements
- Early-stage Canadian startup
- Technology readiness level of 6 or lower
- Pre-revenue, although pilot revenue is eligible
- No more than $250,000 in investment
- Incorporated business in Canada
- Majority owners hold IP rights
- Company has been in business five years or less
- Fewer than 10 full-time employees
