Program Description
Reimburses $50,000–$200,000 for Ontario-based standalone SMEs developing or commercializing products and services that integrate Critical Technologies in Advanced Manufacturing, Agri-Food, Construction, or Mining.
Eligibility Requirements
- Ontario-based standalone SME with fewer than 500 global full-time employees
- Registered operations in Ontario and valid CRA business number
- Developing or commercializing products or services that integrate or adopt Critical Technologies
- Project must relate to Advanced Manufacturing, Agri-Food, Construction, or Mining
- Must use at least one Technology Development Site for a minimum of 2 hours per test bed
- Project activities carried out in Ontario
- Project duration maximum 6 months
- SME must provide at least 1:1 matching funds
- Funding is reimbursement-based after claim/report approval

How much can this program pay?
It reimburses 50% of total eligible project costs, from a minimum of $50,000 up to a maximum of $200,000. The guidelines' example is a $400,000 project with a $200,000 OCI contribution and a $200,000 minimum applicant contribution.
Can another grant cover my matching half?
No. The contribution match must be in the form of private sector contributions and be unencumbered from other government grant sources. It may come from the applicant and/or partners.
What does the project have to involve?
Development, testing, validation or showcasing of a product or service that integrates at least one of the six critical technologies, in one or more of the four key sectors, with activities carried out in Ontario and use of at least one CIT Technology Development Site for a minimum of two hours per test bed.
How long can the project run?
A maximum of six months. An extension must be requested and approved before the scheduled completion date, and can be no longer than three months.
Do I need a partner?
No. Applying with a strategic partner is not mandatory, but preference will be given to SME applicants with strategic partners involved in their project outcomes, and the relationship must be arm's length.
Who owns the intellectual property?
The applicant. IP arising from the project is managed by the applicant and OCI does not claim or manage IP rights, though successful applicants must execute an Intellectual Property Statement as part of the funding agreement.
