Program Description
Tourism PEI grant of $10 per registered delegate, to a maximum of $5,000, for non-profit organizations hosting a one-time national, international or regional conference, meeting or sanctioned sporting event in PEI outside July and August. The money may be used only toward the meal cost of an opening reception, brunch or closing banquet.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be a non-profit organization. Private sector organizations are not eligible.
- The event must be one of three qualifying types: a national or international conference or workshop-based meeting; a regional (Atlantic or Maritime) event with a minimum of 200 out-of-province registered delegates (registered conference participants and official guests); or a national or regional sporting event sanctioned by the appropriate national sport governing body.
- The event must be held in Prince Edward Island and must have off-Island participants.
- The conference, meeting or event must be one time only.
- The event must be held in the tourism shoulder season — any month other than July or August.
- Approved funding may be used only toward the meal cost of an opening reception, brunch or closing banquet, for registered participants and official guests only.
- Funding must not be provided from other government sources; an exception may apply for significant events. Events that qualify for assistance through programs of other government departments will not normally be considered, though exceptions may be made for major cultural or sporting events with demonstrated benefits to the province.
- The Province of Prince Edward Island must be acknowledged at the function as its sponsor.
- Payment requires a receipt from the banquet facility showing the number of meals purchased; the facility may be contacted for verification before payment is issued.
