Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions founders most often ask about TMEI

Free
Can I apply for uranium exploration?
Yes, but the maximum rebate is capped at $50,000 (25% of eligible costs) versus $150,000 for other minerals. All minerals regulated under The Mineral Tenure Registry Regulations are eligible, anywhere in Saskatchewan.
How much do I get for a $200K drilling project?
You'd receive $50,000 (25%) for a $200K project, up to the $150,000 max. For uranium, it's $50K max regardless of project size.
When do I get paid after applying?
After the fiscal year's work is verified. You apply by December 31 of the fiscal year, do the field work, notify the Ministry of program status by February 1, then file the Verification of Work Form by April 30 — payment follows Ministry assessment, typically 8-12 weeks after that April 30 submission.
What's the most common reason applications get rejected?
Saskatchewan does not publish a rejection breakdown. The avoidable failures are structural: applying after the December 31 deadline (or after doing the work, since the application comes first), working on a mining lease rather than a mineral claim, expired dispositions, and costs without invoices or proof of payment.
Can I stack this with federal tax credits?
Yes, stack with federal METC (15%) or CMETC (30%) for critical minerals — combined with TMEI, you can effectively reduce exploration costs by 60-70% for flow-through share investors.
