How to Win
Insider tips, common pitfalls, and what successful applicants look like
Insider TipThe 120-day application window runs from the date of completed installation — not the date of purchase or invoice. Ensure your contractor records the exact installation completion date on the invoice, as SaskEnergy uses this for eligibility verification. The program covers the higher purchase price of qualifying efficient equipment but does NOT cover installation labour or removal of old equipment — quote your contractor separately for those costs. For large commercial properties with multiple equipment types (e.g., boilers + HRVs + infrared heaters), submit all on a single application to streamline processing. Check SaskEnergy's website for the current efficiency rating thresholds before purchasing equipment — efficiency rating thresholds are updated periodically.
Success Profile
A Saskatchewan restaurant chain, strip mall owner, or mid-sized commercial building operator replacing aging natural gas furnaces, boilers, or water heating systems as part of a planned building improvement. The applicant has an active SaskEnergy commercial account, replaces equipment at multiple locations, and submits applications within 120 days of each installation to accumulate rebates across the portfolio.
Evaluation Criteria
This is an entitlement rebate with no competitive evaluation — eligibility is determined by: (1) active SaskEnergy commercial account, (2) qualifying equipment type meeting efficiency thresholds, (3) application submitted within 120 days of installation, and (4) complete invoice documentation. All four criteria must be met; no scoring or ranking applies.
