What this program funds and who can apply
Program Description
Laval Économique grant for established Laval companies in eligible sectors — manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, high technology, transportation and logistics, business services, tourism and priority sectors — to reduce their environmental footprint. Pays a non-repayable contribution of up to 50% of eligible expenses: up to $25,000 for equipment or technology integration, up to $10,000 for a technical assessment, or up to $10,000 for certification. Requires two years of operation, sales over $1 million, and at least 30% applicant seed money.
Eligibility Requirements
- Legal entity registered with a Québec Enterprise Number (NEQ).
- Laval-based business, in operation for at least 2 years.
- Sales over $1 million.
- Financial capacity to ensure continuity of operations.
- Project carried out in Laval with seed money of at least 30% of eligible expenses.
- Project not started prior to acceptance of application, to be completed within 12 months after financial assistance has been granted.
- The business must operate in an eligible field of activity: manufacturing, assembly, processing or fabrication industries; food processing; agriculture (specifically to facilitate energy transition); high technology (aerospace, life sciences, information and communications technology, cleantech); transportation and logistics; business services; the tourism industry (recreational tourism or lodging facilities); sectors considered priority or strategic; or social economy enterprises involved in processing and manufacturing.
- Within transportation and logistics, warehousing, independent road transport, automobile dealerships and auto repair services are excluded.
- Within business services, retail, restaurants, professional and financial services, professions regulated by a professional order, construction, daycares and training centres are excluded.
- The contribution is capped at 50% of eligible expenses and the application must be for a minimum of $10,000.
- Stream-scoped: the Technical Assessment category (up to $10,000) is designated for manufacturing and industrial businesses. This restriction applies to that category alone and does not gate the Equipment or Technology Integration or Certification categories.
- Eligibility is subject to the availability of funds; the amount of financial assistance may vary according to available budgets and may be subject to certain conditions.

Evaluation Criteria
Following receipt of a complete file and confirmation of the information, the application is evaluated by the committee, which selects recipients according to the terms and conditions set out in the program. Eligibility is subject to the availability of funds, and the amount granted may vary according to available budgets and may be subject to certain conditions. Laval Économique publishes no scoring rubric. The stated program objectives indicate what the committee is looking for: reducing the environmental footprint (energy, water, greenhouse gases, materials management), opening new market and strategic-positioning opportunities, projects promoting sustainable practices and the integration of clean technologies, and renewable-energy or energy-efficiency work. The eligible-expense rules add a decisive test — reducing the environmental footprint must be the project's primary objective, not an indirect effect.

Stacking partner data not yet available.
Clawback Risk
Medium RiskThe contribution is non-repayable but conditional. Two conditions carry real repayment exposure: the project must not have started before the application was accepted, and it must be completed within 12 months after the assistance is granted. For the Certification category, the certification itself is the deliverable. Failing to complete on time or altering the funded scope are the realistic triggers — confirm the convention's specific conditions before signing.
