Program Description

Laval Économique grant for established Laval companies in eligible sectors — manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, high technology, transportation and logistics, business services, tourism and priority sectors — to reduce their environmental footprint. Pays a non-repayable contribution of up to 50% of eligible expenses: up to $25,000 for equipment or technology integration, up to $10,000 for a technical assessment, or up to $10,000 for certification. Requires two years of operation, sales over $1 million, and at least 30% applicant seed money.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Legal entity registered with a Québec Enterprise Number (NEQ).
  • Laval-based business, in operation for at least 2 years.
  • Sales over $1 million.
  • Financial capacity to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Project carried out in Laval with seed money of at least 30% of eligible expenses.
  • Project not started prior to acceptance of application, to be completed within 12 months after financial assistance has been granted.
  • The business must operate in an eligible field of activity: manufacturing, assembly, processing or fabrication industries; food processing; agriculture (specifically to facilitate energy transition); high technology (aerospace, life sciences, information and communications technology, cleantech); transportation and logistics; business services; the tourism industry (recreational tourism or lodging facilities); sectors considered priority or strategic; or social economy enterprises involved in processing and manufacturing.
  • Within transportation and logistics, warehousing, independent road transport, automobile dealerships and auto repair services are excluded.
  • Within business services, retail, restaurants, professional and financial services, professions regulated by a professional order, construction, daycares and training centres are excluded.
  • The contribution is capped at 50% of eligible expenses and the application must be for a minimum of $10,000.
  • Stream-scoped: the Technical Assessment category (up to $10,000) is designated for manufacturing and industrial businesses. This restriction applies to that category alone and does not gate the Equipment or Technology Integration or Certification categories.
  • Eligibility is subject to the availability of funds; the amount of financial assistance may vary according to available budgets and may be subject to certain conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions founders most often ask about Sustainable Transition (Transition durable)

Free
Does my sector qualify for this program?
Eligible fields are manufacturing/assembly/processing/fabrication, food processing, agriculture (for energy transition), high technology, transportation and logistics, business services, tourism, priority or strategic sectors, and social economy enterprises in processing and manufacturing. Retail, restaurants, construction, daycares, training centres, professional and financial services, warehousing, independent road transport and auto dealerships/repair are excluded.
How much do I have to put in myself?
At least 30% of eligible expenses as seed money. Laval Économique's contribution is separately capped at 50% of eligible expenses, so the remaining share must come from your own funds or other sources.
Is there a minimum request?
Yes — the application must be for a minimum of $10,000. Combined with the 50% ceiling, that means a project with at least $20,000 of eligible expenses.
Can I fund software or robotics with this?
No. Software, automation and robotization equipment, and servers are explicitly excluded, as is motorized rolling stock. The eligible materials, equipment and clean technologies must be aimed directly at reducing the environmental footprint.
Can I start the project while my application is being reviewed?
No. The project must not have started prior to acceptance of the application. Once the grant is awarded, the project must be completed within 12 months.
