Program Description

Canadian Space Agency funding for human analogue studies that are precursors to future ISS or space-platform investigations. Awards up to $300,000 for PI/Co-PI projects and $150,000 for Co-I projects over a maximum of three years.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a Canadian post-secondary institution (a university or college, including CEGEPs in Quebec, with provincial accreditation to grant degrees, diplomas or certificates), OR a not-for-profit organization established and operating in Canada with research in its institutional mandate and a standing Research Ethics Board (or one delegated to another institution's recognized board)
  • The project must already have been selected on scientific merit through an international partner competition (e.g. ESA Ground-Based Facilities, ESA or DLR parabolic flights, NASA HERA)
  • The study must be a direct precursor of future Canadian investigations on the ISS or future space platforms
  • The principal investigator must hold a traditionally recognized academic position (professor, associate, assistant or emeritus); postdoctoral fellows and individuals paid from someone else's research grant cannot be PI
  • Overhead is capped at 20% of eligible costs for universities and 15% for other eligible recipients
  • Salaries of university faculty and college professors are not eligible expenses
