How to Win

Insider tips, common pitfalls, and what successful applicants look like

Insider Tip

Applications with explicit job-creation projections tied to regional communities — especially forestry-dependent towns or Indigenous communities — score highest. Frame the project around employment outcomes, not just equipment specs. Pair with BCMJF Project Readiness Stream (up to $50K, 50% cost-share) if your project needs feasibility work first.

Evaluation Criteria

Cross-government review panel assesses: (1) project readiness — completeness of plans, cost estimates, and market evidence; (2) economic and job-creation impact — number of jobs created or retained, wages, and regional benefit; (3) community benefit — priority given to forestry-dependent regions and Indigenous communities; (4) financial viability of the applicant and project; (5) leveraged investment — quality and volume of co-funding from applicant and third parties.
