How to Win
Insider tips, common pitfalls, and what successful applicants look like
Insider TipFor private companies: your path is as a co-funding partner, not applicant. Approach a university research office with a proposal to co-invest ($250K-$2M) for research access and IP rights. CFI research security (STRAC) means foreign-controlled companies face extra scrutiny. Best entry: university engineering departments in your sector.
Success Profile
For institutions: major university/hospital with established research program and provincial co-funding. For industry: mid-large Canadian tech/health/energy company with R&D gap that university infrastructure would address and $500K+ co-funding budget.
