The City of Saint John provides annual grants of up to $7,500 to registered small businesses operating in city limits, with priority for areas most affected by crime. Businesses contribute 50% of eligible costs; non-profits may receive up to 75% cost-share.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Registered small business operating within Saint John city limits.
  • Priority for areas most affected by crime (e.g., Waterloo Village, Rothesay Ave, Thorne Ave, Uptown Saint John).
  • Also open to non-profits, commercial property owners, Uptown Saint John BIA, and mixed-use multi-unit developments under construction.
  • Businesses receive up to 50% cost-share; non-profits may receive up to 75%.
  • Collective projects can receive up to $25,000, but each participant's share counts toward the $7,500 annual limit.
  • Ineligible costs include insurance-covered costs (except deductibles) and expenses incurred before required approvals.
