Program Description
A smaller-scale marketing and publicity grant for Saskatchewan creative-sector businesses and practitioners. Approved projects are funded at up to 50% of the approved project budget to a maximum of $5,000 per applicant per fiscal year, whichever is less. Open to active practitioners in the creative industries Creative Saskatchewan supports — book publishing, craft and visual arts, digital game development, live performing arts, and music — with the film and television sector paused for the 2026-27 fiscal year. The Micro Stream has three deadlines a year and results arrive about four weeks after each.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be an active practitioner in one of the creative industries identified under The Creative Saskatchewan Act (2013): book publishing, craft and visual arts, digital game development, film and television, live performing arts, or music
- The Marketing Grant is paused for the FILM sector for the 2026-27 fiscal year
- Applicant must demonstrate commercial intent within the project and ambition to grow the business beyond its current status
- Applicant must be in good standing with Creative Saskatchewan in all respects
- An applicant may be a corporation, an individual, a group of recording or performing musicians, a non-profit, or a collective
- Corporations must be incorporated or registered to carry on business in Saskatchewan, have the majority of outstanding voting shares owned by Saskatchewan residents, have a permanent establishment in Saskatchewan, and have filed a Saskatchewan income tax return for the preceding taxation year
- Individuals must have filed an income tax return respecting income earned in Saskatchewan in the preceding year (recent returnees may instead provide a current Saskatchewan driver's licence or SGI photo ID)
- Applicants may not apply on behalf of a political organization or party, a religious organization, an organization that discriminates, or an organization advocating for political or religious beliefs
- Projects should be smaller, more sharply focused marketing projects rather than larger-scale campaigns
- Applicants are limited to one Marketing Grant — Micro Stream per fiscal year, and may not obtain additional Micro grants through single-purpose companies, parent companies, or other companies where they are owner or majority stakeholder
- Projects eligible for a Creative Saskatchewan production grant should apply for the production grant rather than the Marketing Grant
- Activities that receive funding from SK Arts or SaskCulture are not eligible
- If ineligible expenses exceed 50% of the project budget, the application will be deemed ineligible
- Project expenses must be incurred after the Application Receipt Date and before the declared project end date, and primarily in Saskatchewan
