What this program funds and who can apply
Program Description
Efficiency Nova Scotia's Pay-for-Performance program pays commercial, institutional and non-profit facilities in Nova Scotia $0.15 for every kilowatt-hour of verified first-year electricity savings. Instead of pre-approving a specific measure list, the program lets a participant retrofit the building the way they want and settles up on results: savings are confirmed from interval meter data over the year following installation, and the incentive is paid once a reduction of at least 10% is verified. It is aimed at deeper, multi-measure retrofits, not single upgrades, and requires an approved consultant from the Efficiency Preferred Partner network to apply.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a commercial or institutional Nova Scotia Power customer that has not yet entered a binding agreement to acquire the measures, or the services to install them
- The facility must be an institutional, non-profit, or commercial (including multi-unit residential) facility served directly or indirectly by Nova Scotia Power Inc.
- The facility must consume at least 1,000,000 kWh annually; up to five smaller buildings may be aggregated to meet the threshold (exceptions at ENS discretion)
- Target project savings must be greater than a 10% reduction of annual electrical energy consumption per facility
- The facility must have at least 12 months of interval meter data of typical usage, at hourly resolution or better, from a revenue-grade meter
- The applicant must have the rights and authority to install the measures within the facility, and must not be insolvent
- Participants must apply through an approved consultant from the Efficiency Preferred Partner (EPP) network
