Program Description

Tour support funding to help Manitoba recording artists develop audiences outside their hometown, across Canada, in the United States and internationally. Manitoba Film and Music covers up to 60% of total eligible costs to a maximum of $7,500 per fiscal year at Level 1, or $15,000 per fiscal year at Level 2 for applicants who have a current Manitoba Film and Music funded release and a registered Manitoba business or corporation. The intake is rolling, but the application must arrive before the tour begins. Formerly the Recording Artists Touring Support program.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The applicant must be an artist who is a Manitoba resident, legally entitled to be, work and remain in Canada, and resident in Manitoba for at least 365 days prior to the application
  • For partnerships or corporations, at least 50% of the partners or company directors must meet the residency requirements
  • Minimum age 18; an artist aged 16 or 17 may apply through a parent or legal guardian, and no band member may be younger than 16
  • No business registration is required for the $7,500 annual cap level
  • For the $15,000 annual cap level the applicant must have a current Manitoba Film and Music funded release and be registered as a business or incorporated in Manitoba, with a valid Manitoba chequing account
  • The applicant and artist must be in good standing, with no overdue file and no money owing on a previous grant
  • The tour must consist of at least four confirmed performances on four different days, with no break of more than 30 days between them
  • Hometown concerts, and concerts within a 150 km radius of the artist's hometown, are not eligible tour dates
  • Multi-day festival performances count as a maximum of two tour dates
  • For an existing recording, the release must be commercially available on all major digital music platforms and the application must arrive within two years of the Canadian release date
  • For an unreleased recording, the application cannot be received more than six months before the release date, and the recording must be mastered and ready for release at the time of application
  • Government departments, public agencies, other public institutions, public or private broadcasting companies, not-for-profit organizations and charitable ventures are not eligible
  • Projects fully generated by AI, or whose primary creative content is AI-generated without substantial human authorship, are not eligible
