How to Win
Insider tips, common pitfalls, and what successful applicants look like
Insider TipRegister for a FACTOR profile early — your rating determines which programs you can access. Artist Development ($5K at 75% cost-share) is the right entry point for emerging artists. Don't apply to multiple juried programs in the same fiscal year. Stack with provincial music programs (Ontario Creates, Creative BC Music Fund).

Success Profile

Evaluation Criteria
Applications are evaluated by an independent jury. For Juried programs (Sound Recording, Live Performance, Video), the jury assesses: quality of assessment tracks, market activity and momentum, clarity and achievability of the marketing/release plan given the artist's resources and track record, and commercial potential. For Artist Development, evaluation considers the development plan and the artist's growth trajectory. Artist Profile rating is a prerequisite — higher ratings unlock higher-value programs.
