Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a farm or Mi'kmaq conducting farming activities in a Mi'kmaw community in Nova Scotia.
- Must be currently registered under the Farm Registration Act.
- Annual eligible gross farming income must be $30,000 or less.
- Must be actively farming in the program year.
- Applicant must be 19 years of age or older.
- Only one application per year per applicant.

Is my farm too big?
Possibly. This is a small-farm program: the threshold is an annual eligible gross commodity income of $30,000 or less. Commodity income means income from what the farm sells, so it is narrower than total farm revenue.
When are the deadlines?
The program opened 1 April 2026, applications close 30 September 2026, and claims must be submitted by 31 December 2026. Refer to the Program Guidelines for further deadline detail.
What do I need to submit?
A complete application with all supporting project quotes. Applicants new to the department's programs since 2023 must also complete the Program Funding Registration form for farm applicants, and returning applicants must update theirs as necessary.

The adoption of specialized infrastructure or equipment. Projects should help the expansion of local agricultural production for local markets.
