Program Description
Reimburses up to $10,000 for Ontario-based SMEs in Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, Agri-food, or Mining to upskill or reskill current employees in Critical Technologies.
Eligibility Requirements
- Ontario-based SME with fewer than 500 global full-time employees
- Registered operations in Ontario and valid CRA business number
- Operating in one of four key sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, Agri-food, or Mining
- Training must upskill or reskill current employees in Critical Technologies (5G, AI, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Quantum, Robotics)
- Must demonstrate genuine need for training and ability to implement and sustain new technologies
- Project activities carried out in Ontario
- SME must provide at least 1:1 matching funds
- Funding is reimbursement-based after claim approval

How much does the program pay?
It reimburses 50% of total eligible project costs up to a maximum of $10,000. The guidelines' example is a $20,000 project with a $10,000 OCI contribution and a $10,000 minimum private sector contribution.
Who is eligible?
Ontario based SMEs with fewer than 500 global full time employees, with registered operations in Ontario and a valid CRA business number, working in one of CIT's four key sectors: advanced manufacturing outside automotive, construction, agri food and mining.
What training qualifies?
Upskilling or reskilling current employees on critical technologies, meaning 5G and advanced networks, AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, quantum computing and robotics, delivered by an external third party consultant.
How do I apply?
You cannot apply directly. Applications must be initiated in AccessOCI by an OCI Business Development Manager or CIT Sector Manager, so you submit an OCI Company Intake Form first and a BDM or Sector Manager contacts you within two business days.
When do I get the money?
Afterwards. Funding is released to the SME on a reimbursement model, the SME pays the consultant, and reimbursement follows the submission and approval of claims and reports including the consultant's invoice.
Is approval guaranteed if I am eligible?
No. The program is discretionary and non entitlement with limited funding, and OCI states that not all eligible applications can be funded.
