How to Win
Insider tips, common pitfalls, and what successful applicants look like
Insider TipThe DMAP-to-TDP pathway is the intended journey and the highest-value route ($15K + up to $150K = $165K). Don't apply to TDP directly — you must complete DMAP first. For DMAP, you cannot choose any digital consultant: they must be on OCI's approved vendor list (100+ DACs across Ontario). When DMAP intake re-opens, apply immediately — it fills on a first-come, first-served basis with limited annual funding. The $500K revenue threshold for TDP catches some early-stage companies; focus on DMAP first and ensure TDP eligibility before investing in DMAP.
Rejection Pitfalls 11
- Intake is closed — DMAP and TDP are not accepting applications (most common reason in early 2026)
- Business is not based in Ontario or lacks permanent Ontario establishment
- Business is not incorporated (must have valid CRA Business Number)
Success Profile
Ontario-based for-profit SME in any industry, 1-499 employees, with a permanent Ontario establishment and valid CRA Business Number. No minimum revenue for DMAP. For TDP: minimum $500K revenue and prior DMAP completion. Manufacturing, professional services, and technology companies report the strongest ROI. Retailers are the target for RMPG. Best fit: SMEs that have identified specific digital pain points but lack internal technical expertise to evaluate and implement solutions.
