Program Description

A temporary Innovation PEI fund for Prince Edward Island businesses hit by U.S. tariffs, Canadian counter-tariffs or related trade disruptions. It pays a conditionally non-repayable grant of up to 50% of eligible project costs, to a maximum of $50,000, for projects that diversify markets, build interprovincial trade, or raise productivity through equipment, technology and automation. Applications are reviewed first-come, first-served, and the fund is expected to stay open until March 31, 2027, subject to available funding.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Business registered to do business and actively operating in Prince Edward Island
  • Must demonstrate significant economic impacts from U.S. tariffs, Canadian counter-tariffs or related trade disruptions
  • Project must align with the Fund's objectives: market diversification, interprovincial trade development, or productivity and competitiveness
  • Priority goes to businesses directly affected by the U.S. Section 338 tariffs and Canada's related counter-tariff measures; indirectly affected businesses may be considered where a clear and significant impact is shown
  • Not eligible with a defaulted debt on file in the Province's Central Default Registry
  • Applicants in default on any reporting, project completion or financial obligation to Innovation PEI are not reviewed until the default is resolved
  • Application must be submitted before any financial or legal commitment is made on the project
