Prince Edward Island — Beach Infrastructure Program

Program Description

Tourism PEI grant of up to $5,000 per organization toward upgrading public beach infrastructure on Prince Edward Island — waste sorting stations, washrooms, parking areas, boardwalks and beach access, signage and certified safety equipment. Open to municipalities, watershed groups, harbour authorities, tourism associations and registered not-for-profits; Tourism PEI states the 2026 application limit has been reached.

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicant must be one of the following organization types: a town, community or municipality; a provincial watershed group; a harbour authority; a non-profit development corporation; a regional tourism association or destination management association; or a registered not-for-profit organization. Private for-profit businesses are not on the eligible-applicant list.
• The project must upgrade public beach infrastructure in Prince Edward Island.
• The beach must be accessible to the public via a provincially recognized right of way (road), and must have public parking spaces available.
• Only one application per organization will be considered.
• One organization may apply for upgrades to multiple beaches on the same application, but total funding is capped at $5,000.
• All transactions must be completed between two parties operating at arm's length.
• The applicant must illustrate how the improvement project will be managed and maintained after completion.
• The applicant is responsible for obtaining any permits required by the Province of Prince Edward Island and by the municipality, town or community; permits must be submitted to the Tourism PEI contact before the project begins.
• Eligible expenses must be incurred between the date the applicant is notified of the approved level of funding and the date of project completion.
• Applications are accepted while funds remain; approved applications are funded on a first-come, first-served basis.
