What this program funds and who can apply
Program Description
Provides a matching grant of 50% of eligible storefront and façade improvement costs, up to $10,000 per building. Grants are first-come, first-served until the annual budget is depleted.
Eligibility Requirements
- The applicant must be the registered owner of the land, or an agent authorized by the registered owner
- The property must be located within a Community Improvement Project Area, meaning Downtown or Mitton Village
- Eligible buildings are commercial, institutional or mixed use
- A pre-application eligibility review must be completed before an application is submitted
- All City of Sarnia realty taxes must be paid in full before the grant is issued
- Improvements must not commence until the application is approved in full and an agreement is executed by both the registered owner and the City; retroactive improvements are not permitted
- An applicant may apply for more than one CIP grant program, with a separate application for each
