Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions founders most often ask about SaskEnergy Commercial Space & Water Heatin...

Free
Can sole proprietors apply?
Yes, if they are the invoice payer (owner) and have an active SaskEnergy commercial account. Sole proprietors must provide their business registration as the applicant.
What's the typical rebate amount?
$1,500–$6,300 for boiler replacement (maximum $6,300 per building); $325 per qualifying furnace; up to $5,000 per building for HRV/ERV; up to $10,000 per building for condensing water heaters. From August 17, 2026 the boiler rebate becomes $750 for plants up to 300 MBH plus $3 per MBH above that.
How long to get paid after applying?
SaskEnergy processes approved applications within 6–8 weeks of submission. Applications must be submitted within 120 days of installation completion.
Why do applications get rejected?
Late submissions (over 120 days post-installation), equipment below efficiency thresholds, or incomplete invoices missing installation date or equipment specs.
Can I stack with other programs?
Not with other provincial rebates on the same equipment — if you take this rebate you agree not to apply for or receive any other provincial energy efficiency rebate (for example the SaskEnergy Commercial Boiler Rebate) in relation to the same Unit(s). Federal programs are a different matter: NRCan DRAI and the Canada Greener Buildings Initiative can be combined, and you should disclose this rebate in the federal application.
