Program Description

Federal talent-placement pilot that embeds top graduate students and postdoctoral researchers within high-growth Canadian firms to solve R&D challenges in mobility, clean growth, biomanufacturing/life sciences, and microelectronics/ICT. Companies receive embedded R&D talent, not a direct cash grant, and must contribute cash and in-kind resources.

Eligibility Requirements

  • High-growth Canadian firm with an R&D challenge in mobility, clean growth, biomanufacturing and life sciences, or microelectronics and ICT.
  • Must host a graduate student or postdoctoral researcher from a Canadian institution.
  • Funding is a talent placement, not a direct cash grant to the company.
  • The firm must contribute $35,000 cash per annual placement, plus a one-time $10,000 project fee and at least $45,000 in-kind.
  • Placements run through cohorts expected in Fall 2027 and Fall 2028; Fall 2026 partner deadlines have passed.
  • Must be able to identify industry R&D challenges that align with TICAN's strategic sectoral areas.
