Program Description
Twice-yearly matching grants for façade and accessibility improvements to commercial and mixed-use buildings in Downtown Oshawa's Urban Growth Centre.
Eligibility Requirements
- Property owners, business owners, tenants, or agents acting on behalf of property owners may apply
- Applicants who are not the property owner must have the owner's awareness and approval of the application
- Property must be within the Downtown Oshawa Urban Growth Centre boundary
- All non-residential and mixed-use buildings are eligible; residential buildings are eligible but limited to apartments and block townhouses
- Work must meet the Ontario Building Code, the Ontario Fire Code and the City's Sign By-law
- Grants are one-time per eligible applicant for each approved project
- Funding at the September deadline depends on first-round approvals and remaining funding

- Amount
- Up to 50% of construction costs to a maximum of $10,000 per municipal street address, storefront or commercial unit, whichever is less, subject to an overall maximum of $30,000 per property for a building with multiple addresses, storefronts or units. Accessibility improvements such as a power door opener are funded at 100% of construction costs to a maximum of $3,000 per address, storefront or unit, counted within those same maximums rather than on top of them.
