Program Description
Startup line of credit and growth loans for majority women-owned businesses registered and operating in specific BC regions. Borrowers can access up to $25,000 through a startup line of credit and up to $250,000 through a growth loan, with wrap-around support from WeBC.
Eligibility Requirements
- Woman owns and controls at least 51% of the business
- Business is registered and located in BC
- Business is located in an eligible region (Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley up to Hope, Victoria, or Sea to Sky)
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Over 19 years of age
- The growth option requires the business to have been OPERATING for at least 12 months (not necessarily generating revenue); the startup line of credit is for new businesses
- Applicants must meet one of: at least one business owner enrolled in or recently graduated from a self-employment or pre-entrepreneurial training program; a business plan reviewed by a coach, mentor or third-party business advisor such as WeBC; or one to two years of sales history
- Vancity states that women, and anyone who identifies as a woman or non-binary, can qualify as a startup based on their credit score
- A line of credit is limited to a maximum of 25% of the total approved amount
- Financing is subject to Vancity's normal lending guidelines and qualification criteria
