Program Description
Loans and occasional equity financing for Status Indian entrepreneurs and majority Status Indian-owned businesses based in Alberta. Applicants need an Alberta head office, a business plan, own equity, collateral, and acceptable credit.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a Status Indian who has resided in Alberta for at least one year
- If a corporation or partnership, the Status Indian must own at least 51% of shares, participate in more than 51% of profits, and be active in managing the business
- Applicant's head office must be in Alberta
- Business plan showing the business will be profitable
- Contribute own equity as a portion of total financing
- Adequate collateral security
- Acceptable credit rating
- Loan proceeds must be used for business purposes, not for personal, family or household purposes
- Personal, housing and consumer loans, farming, ranching and other agricultural ventures, feasibility studies, and investment properties are ineligible for AIIC financing
