Program Description
A new federal grants and contributions program for Black-led, Black-serving and Black-focused organizations, announced September 20, 2026 with $135.7 million over five years starting in 2026-27 and $27.1 million a year ongoing. It will have three streams: programming for Black children and families; building the skills, tools and resources Black community organizations need to grow and stay sustainable; and reducing barriers by creating more opportunities for Black communities. It is not open yet: ESDC says information on grants and contributions funding will be available in the coming months, and no application dates, amounts per project or eligibility rules have been published. It builds on the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative.
Eligibility Requirements

- Funding will flow through three streams: programming for Black children, youth, families and caregivers; building the skills, tools and resources Black community organizations need to access funding, be more sustainable and scale up; and projects led by Black community stakeholders that meet needs they have identified
