Ongoing one-time cash rebate of up to $0.30 per litre of water saved per average day for Toronto industrial, commercial and institutional organizations that implement permanent water-savings measures.
Eligibility Requirements
- Industrial, commercial or institutional organization that reduces water use
- Industrial customers using up to 15,000 m³/yr are eligible for a free water audit
- Industrial customers using up to 5,000 m³/yr, and commercial/institutional customers implementing permanent water-savings measures, are eligible for the cash rebate
- Eligible equipment includes cooling towers, boilers, refrigeration equipment, food service equipment, process equipment, grey-water reuse and rainwater harvesting
- Domestic fixtures, irrigation systems and rain barrels are not eligible for cash incentives

How much does the program pay?
A one-time cash rebate of up to 30 cents per litre of water saved per average day. The City's example is an organization that reduces water use by 10,000 litres a day receiving a $3,000 incentive.
Who can apply?
Industrial, commercial and institutional organizations in Toronto that reduce their water use. Industrial customers consuming up to 15,000 cubic metres a year can get the free water audit; the cash rebate is for industrial customers consuming up to 5,000 cubic metres a year, and for commercial and institutional customers that implement permanent water savings measures.
What equipment qualifies?
Cooling towers, boilers, refrigeration equipment, food service equipment, and process equipment or other site-specific water-saving measures such as grey water re-use and rainwater harvesting systems.
What does not qualify?
Domestic water fixtures such as toilets and taps, irrigation systems, and rain barrels are not eligible for cash incentives, although the City notes they may still yield significant water savings.
How do I start?
Email [email protected] or call 416-392-7000. The City will contact you to discuss eligibility and, if you qualify, arrange for a professional engineer to walk through and review your water use.
When do I get paid?
After you implement measures, submit the Notice of Completion form and the City verifies the savings at a site visit, it presents your organization with a cheque. You can submit the form after each measure rather than waiting until all of them are done.
