Program Description

Supports commercially viable touring by Saskatchewan musicians and bands in Canada and abroad, in support of a current or upcoming commercial release. Applicants may receive up to $15,000 or 50% of the total eligible cash budget, whichever is less, for a routed multi-city tour with at least six confirmed, ticketed public performances. Three deadlines per fiscal year; a maximum of two Tour Support Grants per year.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The applicant must be an active practitioner in the music industry as identified under The Creative Saskatchewan Act (2013)
  • An applicant may be a corporation, an individual, a group of recording/performing musicians, a non-profit, or a collective
  • Corporate, group, non-profit and collective applicants must have the majority of their outstanding voting shares owned by Saskatchewan residents, a permanent establishment in Saskatchewan, and a filed income tax return respecting income earned in Saskatchewan for the preceding taxation year
  • Individual applicants must have filed an income tax return respecting income earned in Saskatchewan in the preceding year, or provide a current Saskatchewan driver's licence or SGI photo ID if they have recently moved back
  • An annual Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency is required to confirm taxation in Saskatchewan
  • The applicant must be in good standing with Creative Saskatchewan in all respects
  • The applicant must demonstrate commercial intent and ambition to grow the business beyond its current status
  • The tour must support a current release (out no longer than 24 months before the first scheduled performance) or an upcoming release (due within six months of the latest performance, evidenced by masters, manufacturing orders or a public release-date announcement)
  • The release must be either a full-length of at least six new studio recordings totalling at least 30 minutes, or a bundle or series of at least three new studio recordings totalling at least 9 minutes, commercially released and widely available on digital platforms in the tour territory
  • A minimum of six live public performances must be secured at the time of application, evidenced by venue promotional material, a venue email, a booking agent itinerary or executed performance agreements
  • Performances must be at least 30 minutes long, in more than one city or town and in different venues, with no more than five consecutive days off between them
  • Shows at the same festival or event count as one tour date toward the six-performance minimum
  • Repeat performances in the same city in different venues may not exceed 20% of the shows
  • The general public must have the opportunity to purchase performance tickets, and performances must be for contracted performance fees
  • Unconfirmed shows may be listed but cannot count toward the six-performance minimum or break up a five-day gap
  • Applications that do not use and upload the mandatory budget template and travel itinerary template are deemed ineligible
  • If ineligible expenses exceed 50% of the project budget, the application is deemed ineligible
  • Activities receiving funding from SK Arts or SaskCulture are not eligible
  • Applicants may not apply on behalf of a political organization or party, a religious organization, an organization that discriminates, or an organization advocating political or religious beliefs
