Program Description
Point-of-sale incentive of up to $5,000 for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), or up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). Replaces the former iZEV program effective February 16, 2026. Applied automatically as a discount at participating dealerships — no separate application required. Vehicle MSRP cap of $50,000 is waived for Canadian-made vehicles. Available to both individuals and businesses. Note: this is a consumer vehicle rebate delivered through dealerships at point of sale, not a direct business development grant — businesses benefit as vehicle purchasers (e.g. fleet buyers), not as grant recipients, and there is no application to submit.

The $50,000 MSRP cap is waived for Canadian-made vehicles, which means the Rivian, certain Tesla models built in Ontario (if applicable), and other Canadian-assembled EVs qualify regardless of price. Fleet purchases are eligible.

Evaluation Criteria
Entitlement program — no competitive evaluation. Eligibility is binary: the vehicle meets the criteria (eligible model, final transaction value under $50,000 or Canadian-made, purchased from a participating dealer) and the buyer has not exceeded their incentive limit. Dealership submits forms; Transport Canada verifies and approves within the 90-day validity window.

Intake Periods
Continuous — the program runs from February 16, 2026 through March 31, 2031 (or until the $2.275B budget is exhausted). Applied automatically at point of sale through a participating dealer; no intake windows or separate application deadlines. As of June 2026, approximately $2.13B remains available. Retroactive submissions for purchases from February 16, 2026 onward were accepted via the dealer portal, which opened March 31, 2026; that retroactive submission window has now closed.
