Program Description

Finance PEI lends up to $15,000 per applicant to new and expanding Prince Edward Island businesses for financing and working capital, repayable over up to 5 years at TD Bank Prime + 4.5%. Example uses include tools and equipment for recent trades graduates, challenge exams or professional fees for newcomers returning to their field, equipment for small-scale food producers, business start-ups, and winter production financing for craft and giftware makers.

Eligibility Requirements

  • New or expanding business in Prince Edward Island
  • Example eligible categories: trades (recent trade school graduates, or people with a job offer in a new field, who need tools or equipment); qualification recognition (newcomers to Canada covering a challenge exam or professional fees to return to their previous line of work); small-scale food production (growers, harvesters and processors buying equipment and materials); business start-up (an idea, an entrepreneurial spirit and a business plan); winter production financing for new and expanding craft and giftware manufacturers
  • Must obtain the licences, permits and insurance the business needs and register the business under federal, provincial or municipal rules
  • Each individual with ownership must sign the loan agreements and guarantees; additional guarantors and security may be required
  • The full outstanding loan is repayable immediately if the business is sold or transferred during the term of the guarantee, or on demand by Finance PEI
