Entrepreneurs with a home base in Hamilton, Halton, Brant, Niagara or the surrounding areas who have been open for business at least two years with fewer than 50 employees.
When can I apply?
The program page directs applicants to apply March 1 to 30, 2027.
What do winners receive?
Winners share cash prizes and in-kind services determined by the judges, from partner firms specializing in marketing, advertising, accounting, digital services, legal practices and finance. In the 2025 cycle five winners shared $200,000 in prizes, made up of $20,000 in cash and $180,000 in professional in-kind services.
Do I have to pitch in person?
Yes if you are shortlisted. A shortlist of ten applicants moves to a round where they pitch their ideas about future success in a fun and informal setting. In 2025 that meant a half-hour slot in front of 11 judges at Hamilton Stadium.
Is there help preparing the pitch?
Yes. Finalists are prepped two weeks beforehand through an interactive workshop run by a partner firm.
Is this a sector-specific award?
No. Eligibility turns on location, age and headcount. The 2025 winners included a kitchen, a diner, an assistive-technology company, a rehearsal studio and an ice cream maker.
