Program Description
The City of Guelph offers first-come-first-served seed grants up to $25,000 to registered charitable non-profits for pre-construction affordable housing costs.
Eligibility Requirements
- Registered non-profit or charitable corporation
- Meets the criteria of a non-profit developer under the Development Charges Act (1997)
- In good standing under the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (2010), the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (2009), or registered as a non-profit housing co-operative under the Co-operative Corporations Act (1990) with the primary objective of providing affordable housing
- Proposing to build affordable housing in Guelph
- If the development proceeds, rental units must remain affordable for at least 25 years at the rates in the Province's Affordable Residential Unit Bulletin for Guelph

Four grants were awarded in 2025 supporting at least 43 new affordable units.
